I stumbled on your site by accident. What a wonderful accident that was. I'll be going to Peru in May/June 2000. I'll start in Cusco with a week of hostfamily stay and school, improving my Spanish. Then hiking to Macchu Picchu. From there by bus (or train) to Puno, visit Uros, Taquil and maybe Sun Islands. Then flight to Arequipa, from there again by bus to Nazca (Nazca lines) and eventually back to Lima for whatever time maybe left over before flying back to the US. I am already very exited about my trip, but after visiting your site, I can't wait to get there. Once I'm back, I'll add my "two cents worth" to the comments. Once again, wonderful site with wonderful photos and interesting comments.

Hi loved your page from your trip to Peru. I am going there next month for 11 days. I have a girlfriend who lives there and she is going to be my tour guide. I will be flying into Lima and spending a weekend there. On Monday we will be flying into Juliaca and traveling to Puno that day. We will spend a few days on Lake Titicaca and then heading to Cusco for the Easter festival. While there we will go to Machu Pichu. After leaving there(time permitting) we are going to try to get to Ariquipa and then Nazca before going back to Lima. Does it all sound good? Any suggestions? Hope to hear from you!! Ed

Thanks for the links to help us fans get those out-of-print videos of her performances which we crave for. She is truly the greatest. Met her in September 99 in Buenos Aires. Hello, Andrys! My name is Ron Chaplin and I am a member of the Moderated Classical Music Website, which is where I must have first found your site. I was weeding out my bookmarks when I found your site again. FYI, I live in central New Jersey, USA. I have always appreciated the comments you have posted to the site. Now I see this web site! I am at work and I just finished taking too much time skimming your site. I want to tell you how absolutely wonderful your it is! I am entranced by your photos, especially the panoramic (SP?) ones of the mountains and the Lake. They are breathtaking! I surf the web frequently and I must say that I have rarely if ever seen a more beautiful site than yours. Are you a a professional webmaster? And your pictures. Are you a professional photographer? It is a great idea to include a reading list. Aside from Canada and Mexico, a long time ago, I have never traveled outside the US. My wish list used to have only England and Italy. After seeing your site, I have added Peru. If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion: I wonder if it would help put things in perspective if you included a map of the areas you travelled in. I for one always like to know where I am. In comparison to your site, however, this suggestion is very minor. Congratulations on an incredible job! Ron Chaplin

Hey, I met Argerich last November when I went to her festival in Beppu on the island of Kyushu in Japan. We're expecting her next week in Tokyo. Meanwhile, she gave a great interview in November on Japanese television. Said she doesn't cancel concerts anymore. No program yet for her two solo recitals in Tokyo February 5 and 7. She's supposed to play Chopin Piano Concerto No 1. with Ashkenazy conducting next Wednesday, February 2.

I love your photos of Machu Picchu, they're breathtaking. You often mention puzzlement at the three-walled structures. I'm no expert or psychic but as a builder I would expect that these buildings originally had wooden fronts. If so, judging by the workmanship in stone, one can only imagine the quality of their woodwork. -Al

You would think that I could get help from Adobe for this Atm problem, but in following their spider web trail, I came up with you. We just bought a new hp with printshop advertised as installed-able to do business cards etc, but for weeks I have been on the trail for why the templates don't work. The address for Install leads to your pages! Hope you can help me since their phone # was disconnected too. Their web site goes no where as does hp's. I had to e-mail for numerous documents thru techdoc and it has taken me hours and hours to get this far. I am not kidding. . By the way, I work 9-6 and get e-mail most all day long. Please respond if you can to tell me what I can search to find this address: Adobe/Atm/Win95/Install.exe where the info is to make my templates on PhotoShop2.0 work..

I enjoyed your photos and textual information very much. We are planning a trip to Peru next year and although I have yet to digest all the information that you provided, I clearly see its great value. I must also commend you for the quality of your pictures, even the ones taken with your Canon Elph. We would like to know what kind of equipment you recommend we take up there. I have a Canon EOS3 and several lenses, but I am concerned about packing too much stuff given the difficulties experienced in high altitude hiking. Thanks again so much for your information.

Agree Martha is great. Her equal in this country is SUSAN STARR. I have NO idea why she is not more well known. If you have not done so you MUST hear HER Prokofief #3. Breathtaking only begins to describe it: She carries it at breakneck speed without any sacrifice to clarity and beauty.

Since I didn't take my cameras, and have since deeply regretted this, I enjoyed immensely your photos and your commentary. Dear Andrys, I think you've become a friend. I have traveled with you for that past 3 or 4 days, each time, picking-up where I left off the previous day. This visit of Peru and Macchu Picchu through your pictures and narrative has been close to a religious experience. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with all those who have access to the Internet. You seem to be a caring, spiritual person and I must admit I got pretty emotional contemplating certain images. Although, as you say, pictures can't convey the mystical quality of the place, your site, combining images with a very personnal narrative, has certainly been an extremely potent means of getting as close as possible to bing there. I also have a Canon Elph (model 370z) which I got lately and this is how I found your site, while searching with the key-word 'Elph'. Your work demonstrates beyond a doubt the amazing photographic quality these very small cameras are capable of. And they can be carried so easily (I know, I also have 3 bulky 35mm). Again thank you very much for such a gift. André Aubut Gatineau, Québec

Your reference to the Tchaikovsky with Abbado - the live recording (actually edited from 3 performances and rehearsals) is from Berlin, not Japan. I was there with her. As a person who has met Argerich once after a concert, and although she was extremely tired after playing Chopin's Concerto No.1 and I did not get to converse with her very much, it should be made known that she is an extremely gracious person as well as a formidable artist. Even so, I couldn't help feeling like a person unworthy of meeting her; I felt awestruck in her presence. I hope to meet her again one day and play piano for her. I'm probably hoping for too much.

I was one of the first to purchase your debut album in the 1960's and not long afterwards took as my guest Adele Marcus, my piano teacher at Juilliard to hear your Philharmonic Hall American debut. We both wept more times than I can count... I received in the mail from a friend your recording of the 3rd. Which was a revelation to me and has had a vast and very poignant affect on my life... While I love many pianists you certainly are the absolute paradigm of keyboard artisty. I want to thank you for being you and for your art in all recordings, particularly the Rachmaninoff... I owe you more than words could express for being you, for transporting me to other worlds with your art--you have put my life into a Renaissance rebirth. All I can say is " Thank You ".  Respectfully yours,

Thanx for your mail. I really like your Argerich site. You're right I'm not crazy about the Tchaikovsky conc., and I'm not wildly in love with the Rach.3 either, but in the hands of Martha Argerich everything seems to come out golden.

Doesn't anybody have any comments to make about Argerich? She is as beautiful as anything in Peru. Listen, I have some hard to find recordings (a live Bartok 3, a live Mozart Concerto K.456, her Liszt 6th Rhapsody from Busoni competition) and also the CD of her Carnegie Hall Debut from 1966. Doesn't anybody want to trade recordings? I am looking for any of the Artists Live recordings except the Beethoven/Schumann. Thanks.

Your web site is great. I am going to Peru in July this year and am really looking forward to the trip. I had not even flown on a plane until July 1996 when I went to Botswana for a safari. We stared our camping and ended up at Victoria Safari Lodge. Last year it was Kenya and this to Peru will be my last international trip. I have journals of my trip that are much in demand, but I have not done a web page as I am newly on the Internet. Betty

I also think your web site is great!!! I have been looking for information on Peru for a while now and this site, even though I only started browsing through it, seems to be the best reference I found so far. I'm leaving for Peru for 26 days in July and August '99 and I'm looking forward to seeing some of the sites you've displayed on your site. I'm going there on my own (although I have an aunt who has been living there for more than 25 years) and it was great to get email addresses from people going there at the same time. I might try to hook up with some of them. Thanks.

Absolutely LOVED your site. The pictures are incredible and the detailed explanations were very informative. I visited an aunt who was teaching in Peru when I was about 15. It is surprising how different things look as an adult versus when I visited when I was much younger. I am interested to know if I could purchase copies of some of your pictures. Several of your pictures are much clearer and brighter than the ones I have from years and years ago. Please let me know. Thanks so much! You have a remarkable site!

You are GREAT! I downloaded the most of your photos of Peru and especially Machu Picchu. I very much love Andean Culture and Andean Music, which is my most beloved kind of music in the whole world!!! This music has driven me to think that Andean people are very kind and deep sentimental. I love them.

Hi Andrys: I had a look at your photos and I think that they are just great. I will certainly look at them over and over again because I also had the opportunity of visiting some of the same places that you saw. I went to the Machu Picchu in 1994 and I fell in love with the area. It influenced me to create a webpage about some of the countries that I visited in South America. I must have over 200. I have many of the Machu Picchu. I hope you have a look at them. Keep up the great photography.. Paul My website is:
